How much do your wheels weigh?
The weight of the wheel is highly dependent on its fitment. For example, a 19” x 8.5” wheel weighs around 17 pounds with a variant due to the offset of the wheel. Our E2 series of carbon fiber wheels are among the lightest wheels on the market.
-
How much is shipping?
Shipping & handling is not included in the purchase price and is $49/wheel for orders in the contiguous United States. For shipping outside of the U.S. please contact us for international rates.
-
Do you ship internationally?
Yes! For shipping outside of the U.S. please contact us for international rates.
-
What is your return policy?
In addition to valid warranty claims, wheels may be returned within 14 days after delivery for a full refund, less a 20% restocking fee, provided that the wheels are in new and unused condition and returned in unopened packaging. Otherwise, all sales are final.
-
What about wheel damage?
“Curb-Rash” is defined as damage caused by the wheel being rubbed along a curb or other stationary surface. Minor surface damage may be repairable and should be addressed by a member of ESE’s technical service group. Damage that has impacted layers below the clear coat may render the wheel irreparable. If this is determined to be the case, the wheel should be taken out of service and replaced immediately to avoid possible damage to the vehicle or passenger injury. For information regarding wheel damage coverage, please consult your ESE warranty.
-
Are your wheels made of 100% carbon fiber?
E2 wheels are entirely composed of carbon fiber composite, excluding an aluminum adapter to connect the axle to the wheel.
-
Are there installation guidelines for E2 Wheels?
It is recommended that you use a licensed installation facility to install E2 Wheels. Failure to do so could result in damage to your vehicle, wheels, or yourself. Click here for our E2 wheel installation guide and instructions for replacing the wheel studs.
-
Where are your wheels manufactured?
Our wheels are manufactured in our factory located here in the USA, less than one hour from Atlanta, Georgia.
-
What is the gross vehicle weight E2 wheels are rated for?
ESE’s wheel is designed to a 3,850-pound axle rating, making it capable of supporting vehicles up to a 6,800-pound gross vehicle weight rating.
-
How do I care and clean for my E2 Wheels?
Use of a hose and a soft cloth along with a mild soap is recommended when cleaning your E2 wheels. Hard or coarse brushes, chemical-based cleaners or acidic sprays is not recommended and may cause damage to the wheel’s clear coat, voiding the warranty. Note that many drive through and self-serve car washed offer wheel cleaner options that rely on acid wash chemicals that are very damaging to wheel finishes and should be avoided entirely.
-
Are your wheels certified?
Our wheels comply with U.S. Department of Transportation standards. Our wheels meet or exceed the existing Society of American Engineers (SAE) standards for aluminum wheels. Furthermore, we are involved in the SAE committee that is developing standards for carbon fiber wheels and we are testing our wheels through what we expect the new standards to be in the next few years. Additionally, our wheels are being tested by various automotive manufacturers and the wheels we deliver to the aftermarket are of the same quality as the ones we design for the large automotive manufacturers.
-
Can carbon fiber wheels be repaired?
Carbon fiber can be repaired as long as the damage is just to the coating surface or a superficial epoxy scratch. If the scratch is deep enough to affect the carbon fiber, then the safest option is to buy a new wheel.
-
Will carbon fiber wheels rust or corrode?
No, it is impossible for our carbon fiber wheels to rust or corrode because its material properties lack the elements necessary for rusting and corrosion. With that in mind, the resin can be affected by UV sun exposure, but all E2 wheels come with highly durable coatings for UV protection.
-
Why are carbon fiber wheels more expensive than steel or aluminum?
Carbon fiber wheel production is an extremely technical process that necessitates skilled technicians, specialized engineers, and highly advanced technologies and materials. All of these factors result in a product that tends to be quite expensive. At ESE, we have circumvented these issues by providing the highest quality carbon fiber composites at a competitive price due to our high rate of production. Our tailored fiber placement (TFP) and high-pressure resin infusion processes result in the highest quality carbon fiber wheels on the market at price comparable with many forged aluminum wheels.
-
Can carbon fiber wheels shatter or break?
The amount of energy necessary for carbon fiber composites to shatter or break is several times higher than that of a steel or aluminum wheel of equal weight and mass. Yes, carbon fiber wheels can shatter and break—but only at a stress level that far surpasses any other wheel on the market.
-
How do carbon fiber wheels perform in regards to friction between the tire and rim?
Carbon fiber wheels, just as metal wheels, are coated with chemicals to protect the wheel from environmental hazards. The coatings we use will have a very similar friction profile with the tire when compared with your typical aluminum or steel wheel.
-
What is the brake caliper clearance?
Our wheels are designed to fit the most aggressive brake calipers available on the market. To ensure that your specific calipers are a match, contact us via email or phone.
-
What is the max torque that the wheels can handle?
Our wheels are optimized with a high margin of safety to withstand the torque produced by the Bugatti Veyron, which produces the highest torque on the market.
-
What benefits do carbon fiber wheels offer?
ESE’s E2 wheels are stronger and lighter than comparable metal alloy wheels. They also provide a smoother drive with better handling, more responsive braking, and improved acceleration.
-
What types of wheel finishes are available?
Our carbon fiber wheels are currently available in a clear high gloss finish only. We plan to offer a matte finish as well as several color options in the near future.
