Carbon fiber wheels, just as metal wheels, are coated with chemicals to protect the wheel from environmental hazards. The coatings we use have a very similar friction profile with the tire when compared with your typical aluminum or steel wheel.
The amount of energy necessary for carbon fiber composites to shatter or break is multiple times higher than that of a steel or aluminum wheel of equal weight and mass. Yes, carbon fiber wheels can shatter and break, but at a stress level that far surpasses any other wheel on the market.
No, it is impossible for our carbon fiber wheels to rust away or corrode because its material properties lack the elements necessary for rusting and corrosion. With that in mind, the resin can be affected by UV sun exposure, but all E1 wheels come with highly durable coatings for UV protection.
Carbon fiber wheels can be repaired as long as the damage is just to the coating surface or is a superficial epoxy scratch. We recommend you repair the wheels using our services. If the scratch is deep enough to affect the carbon fiber, then the safest option is to buy a new wheel.

Our return policy only permits the return of defective items resulting from a manufacturing error on our behalf. Because our wheels are custom made to your order, our return policy rejects any return attempts for a wheel with the wrong fitment. Please read our Return Policy and Warranty for more information.

Our wheels are manufactured in our factory located on the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia.
Our wheels comply with U.S. Department of Transportation standards. Our wheels meet or exceed the existing Society of American Engineers (SAE) standards for aluminum wheels. We are involved in the SAE committee that is developing standards for carbon fiber wheels, and are testing our wheels to those expected new standards for carbon fiber wheels. Additionally, our wheels are being independently tested by various automotive manufacturers. The wheels we deliver to the aftermarket are of the same quality as the ones we design for the large automotive manufacturers.
